Session Five ” Water Security and Its Impact on Marginalized Groups and Gender ” in a Qualification Program Session

As part of the comprehensive training program to qualify youth for climate work (2024), the fifth session was held on Friday, June 7, dedicated to discussing “Water Security and Its Impact on Marginalized Groups and Gender,” with journalist and environmental activist Shima Wasfi Abu Labad “.

Trainer Abu Labad addressed the impacts of climate change on social groups, highlighting both direct and indirect effects, and identifying which groups are most affected and vulnerable, noting that women are among these groups.

She emphasized that “carbon emissions are the primary cause of climate change, with the United States and China being the two most responsible countries,” pointing out that the resultant rise in temperatures has led to floods, droughts, sandstorms, and wildfires, contributing to the degradation of ecosystems, a cost that future generations will have to bear.

The comprehensive program to qualify youth for climate work (2024), launched by the National Forum for Environment and Sustainable Development in partnership with Jerash University in Jordan, the Arab Youth Network for Sustainable Development, and the Aman Initiative in Jordan, is the first training program of its kind in the Arab arena.
